The Angel Network Program was set up in late 2007 to fund and inform the startup of new Angel investor groups across Ontario’s regions and industrial sectors. This funding will cover the costs of start-up, organization and management of Angel groups or networks. At the outset there were few or no such groups in sustainable operation.
In addition, the ANP has complementary goals with respect to:
- Developing and presenting best practices in Angel investing;
- Providing templates, training, procedures and advice to Ontario’s affiliated Angels and the enterprises they would invest in;
- Referring Ontarian early-stage or start-up companies to Angel groups and other publicly-funded enterprise support services in Ontario, such as:
- Creating a uniform due diligence process for Ontario Angel groups and networks; and
- Devising and popularizing an online review process for early-stage investment deals.
