Since the startup of the first new Angel groups in Ontario by the ANP in December 2007:
- 12 new Angel investor groups were started up with funding from the Angel Network Program (ANP) in communities across the province of Ontario.
- 300+ Angels have joined these groups to independently invest private capital in early-stage, innovative companies.
- 1,100+ companies have applied to present to these Angel groups and their members in hopes of securing growth capital investment, thus far in the program.
- 250+ of these companies presented to ANP Angel groups.
- 28 rounds of investment into Ontario-based companies by these affiliated Angel investors have been participated in so far. This grassroots leadership effectively responded to the worst economic downturn in the world since the Great Depression.
- These 28 rounds of investment, including contributions by unaffiliated Angels, have totalled nearly $20 million, and been dedicated to expansion or further marketing by over two dozen Ontarian companies going for growth and new markets.
- We conclude that the above signifies leverage of over 14:1 on the ANP budget thus far, versus the total invested in all rounds catalyzed and participated in by ANP Angel groups to date.
